Glasgow to Host the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2030)
The city of Glasgow has been selected to host the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in 2030. The decision was made following a vote by the General Assembly of the International Mathematical Union (IMU), which convened ahead of ICM 2026 in Philadelphia.
Under the successful joint bid by the United Kingdom and Ireland, the IMU General Assembly will first be held in Dublin, followed by the main Congress in Glasgow, where mathematicians from around the world will gather.
The bid, developed under the leadership of colleagues at the University of Glasgow and supported by academic partners across the United Kingdom and Ireland, presented an ambitious vision centered on accessibility, scientific collaboration, and global participation.
